Brooke Ann Barard was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, a place well known for its storytellers. Her parents, an Afro-Hispanic mother and an African American (Creole) father advocated for believing in and pursing one’s dreams. This support and creative free rein in her youth went a long way toward her future success as the author of children’s books and her other entrepreneurial endeavors.
Brooke spent her elementary school years onward living in Atlanta, Georgia, with her mother and grandmother. Both women inspired and encourage Brooke immensely. After high school Brooke attended Kennesaw State University, graduating with a degree in Communications and Music and Entertainment Business. After college, Brooke took a year off to explore and absorb more content for her children’s stories.
Brooke is the author of two children’s books to date, Believe In Yourself and Head Start Is Me; both books are available in English and Spanish. Brooke’s company, The One in Me, LLC, was created to help kids learn to write their own stories and develop their ideas. Brooke has done speaking engagements with for over 5,000+ people on a national and everyday classroomscale. She hosts writers workshops for classrooms of students and occasionally adults. Helping kids understand they can be any thing they want and accomplish any dream they set their minds too, which is apart of Brooke’s life mission. She loves how their minds can absorb new information and how willing they are to dream and create.
Brooke often finds herself helping someone build upon their careers and advocating for others in the entrepreneurial field. Brooke’s family is vital to her, and she always enjoys spending time with them.
